Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare

    
     This website will contain information on Shakespeare's play: Romeo & Juliet. The play was written in the Elizabethan era which was from 1558 till 1603. During this time the popularity of literature, poetry and drama increased immensely and theatres were created. The Globe Theatre located in London, England was home to many of Shakespeare's famous plays. The plays were performed to entertain the public, and were enjoyed greatly since they were affordable and suitable for all audiences. There were also not many other forms of entertainment during this time. 
     This website is about one of Shakespeare's most famous plays 'Romeo and Juliet'. The play is a tragedy about two people falling in love from two very different and opposing families. These families have been enemies for as long as anyone can remember.
